This privacy statement explains what personal data we collect from you on our www.afia.ae and www.insurancemarket.ae websites and how we use it, as well as outlining your choices regarding our use of your information, and how you can access and update it.
Personal Identification Information
Our websites allow users to navigate them anonymously: with personal identification information only collected from users when voluntarily submitted through actions such as registering on the site, requesting information about products & services or filling out a form, for example.
Voluntary data fields include name, email address, phone number(s) and these may be used in connection with our permission-based subscription services such as promotional emails, email alerts as well as direct requests for call-backs, quotation enquiries etc.
It is the choice of the user as to whether they wish to share such personal identification information: however, it should be noted doing so might prevent the ability to engage in certain on-site activities. Please note that we do not obtain data directly from any third parties.
Our web server automatically recognises and records the visitor’s IP address, the web pages visited and any personal information voluntarily supplied by the user. In terms of non-personal identification information collected when interacting with our site(s), this may include the browser name, operating system or similar, and is not connected to any ability to identify the user or trace them as a person.

We manage our marketing “in-house” and are proactive in periodically contacting subscribed users with information relating to products, services and promotions that may be of interest to them by electronic mail, SMS, telephone, Whatsapp. We acknowledge that users have a choice in whether to receive “SPAM” and to opt out of such mails. In the interests of respect for our users’ privacy, we will only contact you if you give us permission to: our employees are discouraged from sending unsolicited messages and we take any complaint in respect of infraction of this, seriously.
How to access & control your personal information/data
You always have a choice with regards to whether you want us to keep in touch. If you have previously accepted to opt-in to alerts, newsletters, and other promotional communications we will use your name and address supplied to send them to you: however, if you no longer wish to subscribe you may Opt-Out by either replying to the email we sent you or by contacting email@example.com. You should also write to this email address should you wish for us to amend or delete any of the personal information we may hold for you. If you request to Opt-Out or have your information deleted, please rest assured we will not retain any of your information on any of our systems except for the log/email of your request.
Your information will be retained as required to allow us to provide you with ongoing services such as claims handling or as needed to comply with any specific legal or regulatory obligations (for example, 10 years file retention for Liability classes of insurance).
Information Sharing and Disclosure
As part of the process of providing you with the product or service requested, we may undertake certain checks or exchange information through various databases. For example, as part of the process for underwriting general insurance products, we may check with a licensed credit-referencing agency and a record of this search will be made. When we make any checks or exchange information, we will include further details of the same within the web site or when we write to you. Please be assured that it is not our policy to sell or share, divulge or disclose, any customer supplied data to any third party other than with the express consent of that customer or where we are required or authorised to do so by law.
Third Party Websites
Our site(s) may contain content that links to the sites and services of our strategic partners, approved suppliers or other third parties. Browsing and interaction on these sites is subject to that website’s own terms and conditions and privacy policies, over which we have no control. Similarly, we do not have an input into their content or the maintenance and practices for the links to or from our sites.
