First: You can’t find your insurance policy, but have your vehicle licence to hand
This is quite easy, as your car insurance policy number will be written on your vehicle licence, and with a quick call to your insurance provider, you shall be able to get a new copy of the insurance policy as well.
Second: you lost access to both the insurance policy and the vehicle licence
Now there are two underlying issues here and the solution depends on a tiny but key piece of information: do you know who your car insurer is?
1. You know who your car insurance provider is:
If you know who your car insurance provider is, you shall be able to retrieve your car insurance policy number from them. Of course, they might ask for extra information as part of the verification process in line with the implemented data protection policies, but once you have provided them with the requested information they should be able to provide you with your car insurance policy number and a copy of the insurance policy itself.
Alternatively, you can contact the RTA and ask for their assistance in acquiring your car insurance policy number and to even apply for a replacement to your vehicle licence in case you think it is lost.
2. You don’t know who your car insurance provider is:
In this case, it might be a slightly longer process but don’t worry, it’s not complicated as well. For this scenario, you may have to get in touch with the RTA to assist you: after proving to them you are the owner of the vehicle, of course.
