What’s usually not covered by Pet Insurance
Whilst your policy will provide you with a great deal of invaluable cover, there are some areas that won’t be insured as standard. These include:
Pre-existing or ongoing illnesses or injuries. Any known medical conditions or ailments that your pet suffered from prior to or when taking the insurance policy, will not be covered, whether treatment was previously administered or not.
Claims incurred within the waiting period of the first month.
Routine care and check ups.
Medical or other equipment such as prosthetics, orthotics, Elizabethan collars, cages and the like.
Any medication, vitamins, supplements, pheromone products sold over the counter without a prescription and without a medical indication.
Claims submitted after the maximum allowed period.
Any amounts for Death that results from breeding, pregnancy or giving birth.
Pets over the age of 10 or under 8 weeks of age.
Pets that aren’t microchipped. All animals insured must be microchipped and this will be checked at the time that any claims are submitted.

HOW CAN I MAKE A CLAIM UNDER MY PET INSURANCE?
We hope you won’t need to make a claim under your Pet Insurance policy, but if you do, we are here to help by making the process as smooth and stress-free as possible. Typically, you will need to notify us of your claim as soon as possible, and provide essential supporting documentation, such as:
Claim Form
Registered Veterinary Doctor’s Diagnosis Report including diagnosis & treatment plan
Prescriptions
Veterinary Doctor’s Consultation Invoice
Invoices For Medicines, Diagnostic Tests, etc.
All claims will be settled on a reimbursement basis: meaning that you will pay the costs initially, before submitting your claim and recovering your claims settlement from the Insurer net of any applicable deductible/claim contribution you are responsible for (this applies to some sections of the policy and is typically 20% of the claim cost).
Note that all documents should contain the Pet’s Unique Identification Number (as per microchip) which should be provided to the Insurers at the time of taking out the policy.
